Went to the Whitney tonight. Finally saw the Calder and Eggleston shows that I’ve been anxious to see for months. The Calder was delightful—full of the whimsical, intricate wire sculptures that I have always preferred to his mobiles—and the Eggleston was mesmerizing. I’m used to seeing Eggleston’s photographs reproduced in books, so it was a real treat to see a bunch of prints. If you are in New York and have not yet seen these shows, make haste. The Eggleston closes on Sunday and the Calder on February 15.
